The Knotted Project are a physical theatre company based in North West England. Established in 2013, they have built a strong reputation for delivering original, innovative theatre with a unique style & inimitable sense of humour.
TKP were first funded by Arts Council England to develop ‘Lonely Hearts’, a hilarious and relatable insight into the world of online dating. With over 32 ridiculous characters presented by just two performers, the hour long show captured and thrilled audiences, described by an audience member as “The best thing I’ve seen, so clever!”
TKP were awarded British Council and Arts Council England funding via the Artists International Development Fund. Over a 2 week residency in Northern France, they paired up with a French theatre duo, Mumbo Jumbo, developing ‘In This Room’ a dynamic street theatre piece based on dreaming. This collaboration is ongoing and TKP are looking to head back towards Paris very soon.
Collaboration is a huge part of what TKP do, they are very proud to connect with leading artists in the North West on a number of creative projects.
The Commuters is the next show for TKP, building from the highly successful R&D of ACE funded, ’The Profession’. Working with organisations such as The Lowry and The Grand Theatre Blackpool, The Knotted Project are boosting the research of leading academics, funded by The Institute for Social Futures to new heights in The Commuters later this year.
TKP are highly experienced facilitators & have directed creative learning projects & youth theatres for Arts Centres including The Lowry, The Brewery - Kendal, Burnley Youth Theatre, Oldham Coliseum & The Dukes.
